Cart & Checkout flow redesign

Staples Business Advantage ( B2B )


Business Partner:  Cart & Checkout Team

Project goals

  • A pilot project - use LEAN UX for a Staples Business Advantage (SBA) website team initiative 
  • Simplify the cart and checkout experience to reduce usability friction

  

To produce the two options shown below, I performed the following:

  • · Led multiple stakeholder meetings using the LEAN UX methodology, culminating in stakeholder consensus, refined requirements, and clear milestones for the redesign effort.
  • · Designed two candidate layouts with interaction flows, for a moderated usability test with 10 actual SBA clients as participants.
  • · Identified stress test data scenarios & realistic test data to populate the prototype.
  • · Created two working, click-through prototypes with advanced interaction using Axure.

OPTION A

  • A unified “My Cart” page, (center), with checkout flow elements laid out within a right rail section.
  • The Axure tool’s Inspector panel, (far right), shows some of the dynamic code written to support  the usability testing.

Outcome 

· Users were able to review their order, affirm/enter shipping, & affirm/enter payment, all from a single page.
